Article types
CODE has two article types of its own: the Artefact paper publishes a product made for research, teaching, counselling or intervention together with its theory; the Reproduction report tries a published product in another setting. Together they make replication at the level of the product possible in the social sciences. A product package is required only for these two types; for the others, sharing the product used is encouraged.

Required sections of an Artefact paper
- Theoretical rationale: which psychological, educational, linguistic or social function does the product carry?
- Design criteria: which construct was turned into which affordance?
- Making: tools and versions (software, game engine, printer), materials or dependencies, time, cost.
- Safety, privacy and accessibility: age group, data collected, small parts and materials, tactile, visual and auditory access.
- First use: a pilot, a small sample or an expert evaluation.
- Adaptation guide: what may change, and what must not, when the product is taken to another culture or classroom.
Artefact papers count as research articles. Products in 3D printing, scanning or digital heritage are also listed under CODE 3D.
