Call for papers

Volume 1, Issue 1 (December 2026). Theme: 3D and the object. Submission deadline: 15 November 2026.

The first issue of CODE is about objects made with technology and the human relationships they create: objects that are 3D printed, scanned or modelled and then used in classrooms, counselling rooms, therapy, play, museums and workshops. We welcome studies of what such objects do for people, and the objects themselves, submitted as Artefact papers with their files.

Topics

  • 3D-printed teaching materials, from early childhood to higher education
  • Tactile and assistive objects in special education
  • Objects in play, therapy and parent–child interaction
  • 3D scanning, photogrammetry and digital cultural heritage
  • Maker workshops, makerspaces and teacher education
  • From 3D model to VR or AR scene
  • Design, testing and evaluation of 3D products, including print settings and materials
  • Reproductions of published 3D products in a new setting

Work within the journal's wider scope is also welcome: CODE publishes continuously, and articles outside the theme appear in the same issue.

Article types

All article types are open. Artefact papers and Reproduction reports are reviewed together with their files under the Product package standard.

Dates

  • Submission deadline: 15 November 2026
  • Issue: December 2026
  • Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready; articles that complete review after the issue closes appear in the next issue (June 2027).
