The journal follows the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions in Türkiye, and takes the ICMJE Recommendations into account for authorship criteria. Plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate publication, salami slicing and listing people who did not contribute to the work as authors are unacceptable practices.
Responsibilities of authors
- The submitted work is original, has not been published elsewhere and is not under review at another journal.
- Authorship is limited to people who made a substantial contribution to the work; all authors approve the final text. The order of authors and the contribution statement (CRediT) are declared on submission. During review, authors may be added, removed or reordered only with the written consent of all authors.
- For studies that collect data from human participants (surveys, interviews, experiments, experimentally elicited texts), ethics committee approval is obtained, and the name of the committee, the date and the approval number are given in the Method section. Informed consent is obtained from participants, and from a parent or legal guardian for minors. For studies that do not require approval, this is stated with the reason.
- In corpora containing personal data (social media, messaging, forensic texts, etc.), data are anonymized in accordance with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698. Texts from ongoing judicial proceedings are not published without the permission of the relevant authority.
- Conflicts of interest and sources of funding are declared.
- Authors who notice a significant error in their published work inform the journal immediately.
Responsibilities of reviewers
- The manuscript under review is confidential; it may not be shared, quoted or used in the reviewer's own research.
- A reviewer who has a conflict of interest or believes they know the author declines the invitation.
- Reviews are reasoned, specific, constructive and respectful, and contain no personal criticism.
- A reviewer who cannot complete the review within the agreed time informs the editor in advance.
Responsibilities of editors
- Decisions are based solely on scholarly quality, originality and fit with the scope; the author's institution, title, nationality or views have no bearing on the decision.
- Editors keep information about submitted manuscripts confidential.
- Where misconduct is suspected, the COPE flowcharts are followed; where necessary, a correction, an expression of concern or a retraction is published (see Appeals, Complaints, Corrections and Retractions).
Responsibilities of the publisher
Artsürem guarantees the editorial independence of the journal and does not intervene in publication decisions. The publisher ensures continuous open access, permanent archiving of the content, DOI assignment and the support needed to handle misconduct. The journal carries no advertising, and editorial decisions are not influenced by any commercial relationship.
